Praise Commitment to Excellence Program

“I experienced true joy when I was required to agree to the REALTOR® Pledge of Performance upon my completion of C2EX,” said Paul Sigurdson, a SPAAR member and REALTOR® advisor with Engel & Völkers in Minneapolis.

To encourage an ongoing commitment to professional behavior and development, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) created the Commitment to Excellence program (C2EX) to encourage the professional development of REALTORS® by using a multifaceted approach of online learning and task-based activities for continuing education and professional growth. A member’s commitment to excellence is a continual practice, and a lifelong dedication to superior professionalism and providing first-rate customer service.

“C2EX was a great refresher for me on real estate topics that are important but not necessarily things I deal with on a daily basis,” said Jason Cassel, a 15-year REALTOR® who works with Coldwell Banker Burnet in Apple Valley. During his completion of C2EX, Cassel attended a City Council meeting in Lakeville as part of one of the program’s challenges.

The C2EX platform aims to sharpen, expand and engage industry skills while helping REALTORS® track their growth and progress. C2EX is also a support tool that can enrich the REALTORS® capabilities and effectiveness beyond Code of Ethics, and far beyond the endorsement process. C2EX is intended to:

  • Improve the quality and consistency of the service of REALTORS®.
  • Improve the reputation of REALTORS® in the public eye.
  • Encourage engagement “beyond the sale” by showcasing the value of assisting other REALTORS® and becoming involved in advocacy.
  • Create a platform that continuously engages the REALTOR® in the process of self-improvement without disruption to REALTOR® life.

Members receive their C2EX Endorsement upon completion, which then identifies them as well-rounded REALTORS® with exceptional customer service. The Endorsement is good for two years, then assessments become active again and the REALTOR® can complete a new set of assessments to renew their C2EX Endorsement. Each person’s journey is unique. To date, there have been about 20,000 C2EX Endorsements of REALTORS® nationwide.

According to Sigurdson, who has been in the real estate industry for more than 35 years, “I was pleased with how much knowledge and content I possessed throughout the C2EX process and, in the end, I was excited to discover what was in store for me in the Learning Topics and Tasks section. C2EX challenged me to explore new ideas and garner new perspectives.”

C2EX is not a requirement, but a benefit available to all NAR members at no cost. Echoing Sigurdson statement, Cassel said, “one of the results from completing C2EX was simply that it makes me proud to be a part of the REALTOR ‘R’.” Cassel added that while C2EX is a great refresher for seasoned agents, it’s also a great learning tool for newer agents.
