OVERLAND PARK, KS—Nearing the one-year anniversary of announcing Christian Barnes as the principal owner, president, and CEO of Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate Kansas City Homes (BHGRE), the area’s third-largest real estate brokerage, Terri McGowen is joining the executive leadership team as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Terri McGowen is well-known in the Kansas City residential real market, bringing 30 years of executive leadership with large brokerages. Terri started her career in Kansas City, spanning 20 years in this market.
Most recently, Terri was the Vice President of Sales and Growth of the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Garry Greene brokerage in the Houston, TX area. “I am excited to return to Kansas City and work with Christian as a female leader in the residential real estate industry,” says Terri. “It’s exciting to work with Christian on her vision and growth plans for Better Homes and Gardens Kansas City Real Estate.”

In her role as COO, Terri will work closely with the managing brokers, staff, and agents in each of its eight offices in Overland Park – Blue Valley, Overland Park – College Boulevard, Leawood, Lee’s Summit, Liberty, Northland, Kansas City – Plaza and Prairie Village. Growth strategies are a focus of Terri for the company. She will also develop a road map with goals. Leveraging her 30-years of experience, Terri will also cultivate talent and work on recruitment strategies.
Additionally, Chris Barnes is assuming the position of Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). Prior to joining Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate Kansas City Homes, Chris was a successful entrepreneur with a track record of growth in manufacturing, technology, and transportation. As CSO, Chris will oversee the implementation of resources and tools to provide greater efficiency and support to the company. He will also be an integral part of identifying and implementing strategic partnerships.
