Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS® (SPAAR) members took part in Housing Day at the Capitol on March 4, 2019, a day coordinated by Minnesota REALTORS® and Housing First Minnesota for Realtors and builders alike to meet with the legislative representatives from their respective areas to discuss important real estate issues.
Among the issues shared this year were:
- Creating a legislative commission on housing affordability.
- Designated agency: expanding consumer choice in the real estate transaction.
- Simplifying ad requirements for real estate licensees.
- Improving the First-time Homebuyer Savings Account Act.
In addition, members began their Capitol visit by holding a rally and displaying signs that read: Home Inventory, Affordable Housing, and Enhance the Housing Workforce. Addressing the rally participants to share the work they’re doing in regard to housing were Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, Minority Leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives Kurt Daudt, and Speaker of the House of Representative Melissa Hortman.
The day-long event concluded with a networking reception.
