PHILADELPHIA, PA—Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, REALTORS®, one of the nation’s largest providers of brokerage and related services, today announced that President Joan Docktor is stepping down from her role in leadership effective June 30, 2023. Joan has served at the helm of Fox & Roach for more than 30 years, where she helped grow the company to a market leader with more than 4,500 sales professionals across 65 sales offices.
Joan began her career with Fox & Roach in 1986 as a sales associate and was notably named the company’s “Rookie of the Year,” which recognizes agents based on the number of closed units within their first full calendar year. She quickly rose through the ranks to hold several leadership positions with the organization, including senior vice present and executive vice president of sales, before her appointment as president.
In addition to her role with Fox & Roach, Joan served as the vice president of the Board of Trustees of Fox & Roach/Trident Charities. She is widely known for her industry, community, and charitable involvement, including serving on the board of The Realty Alliance from 2013-2018 and the Board of Managers of the National Broker Public Portal. She also served as Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Bright Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and Chairperson of NAR’s 2021 Real Estate Services Advisory Group. Additionally, Joan is on the Board of Directors of Cradles to Crayons and is an active mentor at The Forum for Executive Women.
“It has been my privilege and honor to help lead Fox & Roach for so many years, and I know the future of the company is in excellent hands as we continue to support the dream of homeownership,” said Joan. “I’ve always said the people that chose this career are some of the most passionate and caring professionals I’ve ever met. Although I’m stepping back from the executive team, I look forward to continuing to serve as a mentor to agents, women, and professionals across the region.”
“Joan is one of our company’s most phenomenal success stories and we would not be the leading brokerage we are today without her tremendous leadership,” added Larry Flick V., chief executive officer. “Joan has been a mentor and friend to me and so many throughout the industry, and I can’t thank her enough for her unwavering dedication. She will be greatly missed, but we are thrilled for her exciting next chapter.”
Joan is a sought-after industry speaker and has received countless industry awards and accolades throughout her career. She has been recognized as one of Inman’s 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders and is consistently named to the Swanepoel Power 200, which recognizes the most powerful leaders in residential real estate. RISMedia has recognized Joan with countless honors, including ranking her as a RISMedia Real Estate Newsmaker, receiving the Power Broker Real Estate Leadership Award in 2018, the prestigious Top 40 Most Powerful Women Executives in the residential real estate industry in 2022, and was inducted into the Real Estate Newsmakers Hall of Fame in 2021.
SmartCEO also recognized Joan with the Brava and Future 50 awards, which distinguishes female leaders growing successful companies and the region’s fastest growing mid-sized companies. In addition, Joan was awarded the 2016 Helena Devereux Women in Leadership Award for her exemplary accomplishments, the 2016 Main Line Today Women on the Move award, and was designated by Philadelphia Style as one of the city’s nine most influential women.
With Joan’s departure, Fox & Roach will continue to operate under its regional leadership structure, which has been in place more than 18 months, with the organization’s regional brokerage managers reporting directly to CEO Larry Flick V. The organizational structure places an emphasis on localized, nimble leadership with the backing of a dominant, trusted brand by providing individual markets with tailored support and financial services.
